Morton Marcus Prize 2026

The 2025 Morton Marcus Memorial Poetry Prize was awarded to Joyce Victor for her poem,
“Phillip’s Celebration.”

The Hive Poetry Collective will soon be accepting submissions for the Annual Morton Marcus Memorial Poetry Prize. Poets may submit one poem (one entry only), up to two pages in length. The fee is $18. The winner of the prize will receive $1,000, publication on the Morton Marcus page here at hivepoetry.org, and an invitation to read their winning poem at the 17th Annual Morton Marcus Memorial Reading at UC Santa Cruz on November 19th. This year’s reading will feature California State Poet Laureate, Lee Herrick. This year’s judge is Poet Brynn Saito.

Guidelines: Submit one poem only, up to two pages in length. Do not include identifying information on your poem.
Files may be in doc, docx or pdf format.
For prize consideration, the deadline to submit is Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 11:59 pm. 


Submissions will be available here by the end of May.
